This creative bassist/composer/singer and band leader is considered one of the most promising artists on the international jazz scene.
Avishai Cohen is clearly multi-talented. This 39-year-old from Israel was discovered in 1996 on the club circuit, by none other than Chick Corea. The American legend not only signed him up on his record label, but also, together with Cohen, started the sextet Origin. Cohen later played in the Chick Corea New Trio as well, which he left six years ago. Since then, Cohen has made studio recordings with Alicia Keys, performed with The London Philharmonic Orchestra and, in his own country, he was recently appointed artistic director of the Eilat Red Sea Festival. Bass Player Magazine named Cohen as one of the 100 most influential bassists of the twentieth century. Cohen has been part of the Blue Note family since last year and recently released his debut album
Aurora on this legendary label.
