Five men and a pimp, that must have been the idea behind theJapanese
SOIL&"PIMP"SESSIONS that started in 2001 in order to break with every thinkable jazz form. The result is a wildly dressed sextet playing an extremely loud and equally tight variation on jazz that brings to mind the happy punk music of so many years ago. This is all centered on band leader and 'über-pimp' Shacho, who can excite both the band and the audience in an appropriate Japanese way. The six band members can often be seen performing for a seething crowd. Blood, sweat and jazz; this appears to be the outline of the musical master plan to which they add death jazz, as they have christened their music. These days,SOIL&"PIMP"SESSIONS are very sought-after on the club circuit. They have an unequaled reputation for live shows. Every festival with any respect for its own reputation can't do without this anarchistic company. In 2008, their fourth brainchild saw the light, the album
Planet Pimp.
