Regular visitors to the North Sea Jazz Festival know Cees Schrama as an amiable presenter and a man who knows all about jazz. But Schrama's main claim to fame is of course as a record producer and music publisher. His role as a presenter started in 1973 when he first presented the famous jazz radio program Sesjun. As a musician, from the 1960s through to the 1990s, he was the leader of Casey and the Pressure Group. He also recorded with, among others,The Shoes, Polle Eduard and Bonnie St.Claire. Today, Schrama is Chair of the Stichting Jazz op Zes (Jazz on 6 Foundation). Two years ago he wrote about his experiences in his book entitled
It Don't Mean A Thing: Leven met jazz. The now 72-year-old Schrama will be performing in Rotterdam with the well-known saxophonistsBoris van der Lek, Alexander Beets and Hans Dulfer. The line-up is completed by vibraphonist Lodewijk Bouwens, double bass player Eric Barkman and drummer Gijs Dijkhuizen.
