Philip Czarnecki has been playing the guitar since he was eight. That is to say: he had classical guitar lessons, so he strummed compositions by Pujols, Carcassi and Bach. Five years later he tried playing the electric guitar and, as a teenager, fell hopelessly in love with guitar heroes like Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. Yet, that too was only an intermediate phase; this time to make the step towards jazz music. In Hamburg he was taught for a number of years by guitarist Sandra Hempel, and after one year a tthe 'Hochschule für Musik', he decided to attend the Amsterdam Conservatory. There, he met bassist Johannes Felscher and drummerAndreas Klein - a trio was born. They had clear-cut ideas: the threesome wanted to play in a classical trio formation in which there is room for standards, but also for many of their ownc ompositions. Soon they became successful, because in the mean time the trio has won the 2008 Prinses Christina Concours. One of their prizes: performing at this year's North Sea Jazz Festival.
