Just like pianist Aaron Parks,
Christian Scott found the inspiration for an album in commemorating the victims of hurricane Katrina. Not surprising, because the 24-year-old trumpeter grew up in the area that was affected (New Orleans). At the age of 19, this innovative jazz artist recorded his first solo album which earned him a Grammy Award nomination. He plays around creatively with R&B, soul and hip-hop styles and produces his own individual sound with his trumpet. Last year, Scott released his third album
Live at Newport. This was the first live recording of a musician who has in the past worked with such greats as Prince. This year,Scott will be performing fresh, honest, hip fusion jazz at the North Sea Jazz Festival for the second time.
