Chris Potter was born in Chicago in 1971. At a very young age it was already clear that he had a special talent. As an18-year-old, the musician moved to New York and there developed a friendship with piano teacher Kenny Werner. Greats like Ray Brown,Paul Motion and James Moody asked him to play in their orchestras.In the mid-1990s, Potter was offered the chance to record several solo albums with the famous Concord jazz label. On these albums you can hear that his gift for experimentation and drive for innovation deliver marvelous original work. During this period, Potter also joined the famous pop/jazz duo Steely Dan on a world tour and ultimately played the sax on their comeback album
