Pitch Pine Project is the brainchild of bassist Udo Pannekeet. With several compositions ready to be played and with a group sound in mind, he went looking for musicians who could bring his vision to life. They were sax player Tom Beek, guitarist Martijn van Iterson, Rhodes pianist Rob van Bavel and drummer Chris Strik. Although the music is inspired by the seventies' fusion of Wayne Shorter and Weather Report, Pannekeet's compositions sound contemporary and original at the same time. Their first CD Quarantine was a modest success. After a successful gig with Randy Brecker the band invited this famous trumpeter to perform on their second album, Unprecedented Clarity, a record that bears witness to the development of the band's alluring music.
