Influenced by DJ Shadow, school friends Simon Akkermans and six-time national scratch champion Thomas Elbers began to record instrumental tracks that consisted of beats, samples and scratches. Under the name C-mon & Kypski they released their debut album Vinyl Voodoo in 2003. Shortly afterwards the duo expanded into a band with the arrival of guitarist Daniel Rose and keyboard player Jori Collignon. Their second recording Static Traveller earned them a bigger name and they discovered like-minded musicians in saxophonist Benjamin Herman, rapper Pete Philly, the rock band Voicst and the Amsterdam Klezmer Band who all participated on their most recent album Where The Wild Things Are. For this recording, the band traveled across the hinterland of Morocco with a camper van full of recording equipment. The raw, untouched natural surroundings inspired them to create and sample organic beats, swinging riffs and evocative collages of sounds.
