The Grammy Award winning live album with Count Basie Orchestra is one of the many highlights in the discography of the New York Voices. This vocal ensemble is specialized in the singing style that was introduced in the fifties: tight arrangements, intimate vocal harmonies and daring scat singing with influences from Brazilian music and classical and pop music. The New York Voices were formed in 1987 by Darmon Meader, Peter Eldridge, Kim Nazarian, Caprice Fox and Sara Krieger. Lauren Kinhan joined the group when Krieger left in 1992. Caprice Fox departed in 1994, leaving the group as the quartet we know today. Over the years, the close harmony group has explored many different musical styles, from the pop music of Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder and Joni Mitchell, to the big band swing repertoire of the Boston Pops. The new album A Day Like This once again demonstrates this highly original quartet's versatility and creativity.
