Gino Vannelli is of course known for hits like It Hurts To Be in Love and Wild Horses. But in the seventies and eighties, the singer made famous albums that were highly praised by serious pop enthusiasts and musicians alike: Powerful People (1974) and Brother To Brother in (1978). The Canadian singer with that magnificent voice is back in the spotlight - and not only due to the well-known ANWB (The Royal Dutch Touring Club) commercial (People Gotta Move). His performances in jazz and classical music have not gone unnoticed. The Canadian singer currently lives in the Netherlands where he feels completely at home. In addition to working with pianist Michiel Borstlap, this year Vannelli started to work with other top-flight Dutch musicians like Bert van den Brink and Karel Boehlee under the name The Dutchbeat. The first CD of the project is expected in the fall. The collective is now appearing exclusively at the North Sea Jazz Festival.
