Singer Sharon Jones and her Dap-Kings from Brooklyn have done everything to render a true classic feel to their funky soul. The album sleeve of 100 Days, 100 Nights with the vintage look showing the artists in sixties clothing with carefully groomed hair is confusing. The fact of the matter is that Jones' first album was only released in 2001. The Dap-horns became well known for their contribution to Amy Winehouse's successful album Back to Black, produced by Mark Ronson. That same Ronson had also had the brass players perform for his hip-hop artist Rhymefest. At the end of the fifties, when she was a small girl in Augusta, Georgia, singer Sharon Jones used to imitate James Brown's dance steps. She sang gospel in church, performed with local bands and worked in a prison for years. In 1996 she finally got the opportunity to release a single that was received very well. Because of her raw voice her sound is authentic and her appearance on stage, together with the spicy Dap-Kings, makes this a performance to look forward to.
