Since its formation in 2003, Sensuàl, which revolves around singer Eva Kieboom, has gained in maturity with its Brazilian jazz 'n' groove. The quintet - keyboard player and arranger Emiel van Rijthoven, bassist Sven Happel, drummer Jasper van Hulten and percussionist Gijs Anders van Straalen - has toured extensively and has used the band members' experiences to forge a strong bond. On their new album Salve, the follow-up to Acústico, the band plays a joyful mixture of Brazilian pop and contemporary bossa jazz. The remarkable thing is that the band wrote almost all the tracks on both CDs themselves. The band's interpretations are also surprising, like their version of Stevie Wonder's I Can't Help It, for example. Sensuàl's concerts are energetic and the warm, loving voice of Kieboom takes you on a trip down memory lane.
