Despite her youth, 19-year-old Laura Izibor, "the soul of Ireland", is already being compared with American soul legends like Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack and Candi Staton. Born and raised in Dublin, Izibor started to play the piano at the age of thirteen and two years later, in 2003, she won Ireland's national and prestigious 2FM Song Contest. In 2006 she won the Irish Meteor Awards (Ireland's Grammy Awards) "New Hope" category, making her the first unreleased artist to ever win or be nominated. In 2007, this talented singer-songwriter released her debut album Let the Truth Be Told. From the outset, Izibor has attracted the attention of musical giants and she often shares the stage with stars like Jamie Cullum, Angie Stone and James Brown.
