A trio consisting of three leaders, that's how the Europa Trio might be referred to. Pianist Enrico Pieranunzi, bassist Hein van de Geyn and drummer André "Dédé" Cecarelli: each musician is considered an authority on his instrument. The Italian Pieranunzi has incorporated the influences of Americans like Bill Evans and McCoy Tyner in his own style and ranks among Europe's leading pianists. Hein van de Geyn is a key figure in Dutch jazz. He's not only a bassist full of talent and integrity who's continuously perfecting his sound and timing, but he also put his name on the map as a producer, label owner and Holland's post-bop instigator. The versatile French drummer Dédé Cecarelli recently released the energetic album Avenue des Diables Blues with Birelli Lagrene and Joey DeFrancesco.
