Singer performer, writer and poet Anthony Joseph made a name for himself as the voice of a new generation. The Trinidadian born, London based Joseph and his Spasm Band present explosive 'spoken words' embedded in Afro-Caribbeantinted jazz, flaunting irresistible poly-rhythms and hypnotizing bass lines. This music can be heard on his album Leggio de Lion that was recently released on the Kindred Spirits label. The single Spirit Lash (Heavenly Sweetness) is meant as an appetizer. Joseph distinguishes himself with his innovative, creative style, described by himself as 'liquid textology'. He wrote several collections of poetry including Desafinado ('94) and Teragaton ('97). Last year his speedy, eclectic book The African Origins of UFO's was published. A novel that was described in the media as a true mind-trip.
