The Brazilian mandolin player/string wizard Hamilton De Holanda plays fusion jazz on a ten-string mandolin that was made especially for him. He demonstrates that this modest instrument has much more to offer than one would expect. De Holanda first made his international appearance with his breathtaking, virtuoso performance in the documentary Brasileirinho. He is now one of the leading names of the new generation of Brazilian musicians that provides traditional music with a new élan. For his own work De Holanda draws upon jazz, classical and Brazilian pop sources. But he also plays the music of among others Ary Barroso and Astor Piazzolla. He's a member of Richard Galliano's Tangaria Project. Despite his relatively young age, Hamilton De Holanda
is mentioned in one breath with legendary mandolin players such as Jacob de Bandolim and Armandinho Macedo.
