The famous afro-salsa group Africando make themselves heard again with the new album Ketukuba. The formation, in which Cuban Musicians collaborate with African singers from Senegal, Mali, Ivory Coast and Benin presents a swinging and attractive mix. They sing in Spanish, French and various African languages such as Wolof. Furthermore the band is a tribute to the late Gnonnas Pedro, a former Africando member who played a visionary role in interpreting Afro-Cuban rhythms. Africando's unique sound is established by the fusing of the Congolese rhumba, West-African manding and Cuban rhythms. In this way an exceptional salsa sound is created which, as a result of the African Diaspora, connects the African motherland to both Americas. As a matter of fact that is exactly what Africando (in a rough translation) means in Wolof: Africa reunited.
