Few musicians are considered authorities in both classical music and impro-jazz. Double bass player, composer and improviser Barry Guy is one of the lucky few. Guy studied double bass and composition at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music in London and was one of the founders of the influential London Jazz Composers Orchestra. His New Orchestra ventures beyond London's city limits and even crosses the North Sea and the Atlantic. With the Briton Evan Parker, the Spaniard Agusti Fernandez, the German Johannes Bauer, the American Herb Robertson and compatriot and percussion veteran Paul Lytton he has surrounded himself with a group of musicians who, like no other, are able to raise the phenomenon Barry Guy to great heights.
