In 2005 the first CRAM concert took place during the Rencontres Musicales de Rabat in Morocco. It felt so good that is was decided that this occasional band had to continue as a real group. The line-up of CRAM, the adventurous, experimental quartet of guitarist Corrie van Binsbergen, consists of drummer Arend Niks and saxophonist Rutger van Otterloo (also known from Corrie en de Grote Brokken) and the Latin jazz bassist Mick Paauwe (Cubop City Big band, Rumbata, Bye-ya!). Together they sound energetic and groovy, but this quartet does have the typical Van Binsbergen, frayed, playful and - according to her - 'comfortably loony' edge to it. Snoring baritone sax and bass lines measure their strength with clashing drum and guitar parts, but CRAM also plays subtle ballads offering more open, free structures.
