Ever since, in 1994, the inimitable Hans Dulfer started mixing jazz and house beats in the big summer hit Streetdance , the Amsterdam-born 'tough tenor' has always been a real cock of the walk as far as cool fusion albums are concerned. Musical restlessness pushes him to adventures at different times and places with anybody he jams with. At this festival the saxophonist has found allies in inspired spirits like DJ Kikke, bassist Eric Barkman and rapper MC Helder. This will result in a thrilling mix of dance beats, bass sounds, raps and, of course, the screaming sax of the jazz musician himself. Special guest of his renewed band is the great American trombonist and singer Joseph Bowie. The younger brother of the avant-garde trumpeter Lester Bowie made a name for himself with the progressive punk-funkjazz band Defunkt. Dulfer and Bowie share the chameleonic aptitude to convert to new, leading styles of music. Currently Bowie is based in Holland. He is leading his funk band Kosen-Rufu and is a much-in-demand guest soloist.
