Trijntje Oosterhuis' new album The Look Of Love is dedicated to the oeuvre of Burt Bacharach, one of the most important composers in the history of the American popular song. Bacharach didn't only participate in selecting the tracks, but he also played on two of the songs. It's Oosterhuis' second album on the Blue Note Jazz label. With the first one she had lots of success with the jazz related repertoire of Strange Fruit, an anthology of Billie Holiday songs and pieces of composer George Gershwin. Trijntje Oosterhuis became known as the front woman of Total Touch, the pop group she co-led with her brother Tjeerd. Once she had embarked on a solo career, she tried her hand at other musical styles like soul and jazz, performing with musicians like pianist Michiel Borstlap, guitarist Leonardo Amuedo and harmonica player Toots Thielemans. Last year she surpassed herself, assisted by the renowned Metropole Orkest conducted by the American conductor Vince Mendoza, with her special Bacharach show in the Dutch theatres.
