The versatile musician Eric Vaarzon Morel is not only a master of the flamenco guitar, but also an accomplished composer of beautiful, melancholic or, by contrast, pieces full of elation. He eyes the old tradition with fresh ideas and fuses his flamenco with foreign influences. In Spain the Dutch Vaarzon Morel learned the art of flamenco guitar by watching the locals in Seville and he worked on his own style for a long time. During the eighties he toured Europe with the Swiss group Flamencos en Route. For six years, from the end of the eighties till the beginning of the nineties, as regular member of Cuadro Flamenco, he played the Dutch theatres and concert halls. Vaarzon Morel collaborated with many artists from varying disciplines like jazz, pop and the theatre including trumpeter Eric Vloeimans, guitarist Harry Sacksioni, Flairck and Gijs Scholten van Aschat.
