Singer-songwriter Keb' Mo' draws from the rich Afro-American musical tradition, with a strong emphasis on storytelling and powerful songs. The blues of Keb' Mo' contains the spirit of Robert Johnson, but his style is also funk and folk influenced. At an early age the musician, who was born as Kevin Moore in Los Angeles, was exposed to gospel music. Later in his twenties, playing in the band of Papa John Creach, he was mostly attracted to rhythm & blues. By way of the Monk Higgins' band he caught sight of the blues again. Keb' Mo's first solo album was released in 1994. Since then the musician has been giving his contemporary view of the blues in all its facets. Last year the new, varied album Suitcase was released, showcasing some beautiful, personal and most of all pure songs.
