Take a stroll in New York and you might meet them in tube stations and squares like Union Square. Do you spot four trumpets, two trombones, a tuba and a drummer? Then please meet the brothers of The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble from Chicago. Surrounded by a crowd of people they blow their catching brass mix of hip-hop, afro-pop, soul, jazz, funk and R&B. The name and reputation of this marching band, consisting of the seven sons of Sun Ra Arkestra trumpeter Kelan Phil Cohran, is steadily growing. The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble has performed as the horn section of the Mos Def Big Band project.
