In the person of Mathias Eick we've hit upon another talent from Norway. Eick has been elected 'international jazz talent of the year' by the International Jazz Festivals Organization and the International Association for Jazz Education. And that means that he's allowed to perform at all the big, international jazz festivals. This multi-instrumentalist and band leader plays the trumpet, bass and the guitar as well as any other instrument needed for his music. He gained some experience in the breakbeats inspired formation Jaga Jazzist led by Lars Hornveth and the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. Currently he's touring with the free jazz formation Nordic Kollektiv, the Norwegian band Motif and he also plays in the bands of drummer Manu Katché and singer-songwriter Thomas Dybdahl. He can also be heard on the ECM CD of pianist/harpist Iro Haarla. Recently Eick signed his first record deal.
