The Swedish Trio E.S.T. will take part in the infamous DownBeat Blindfold Test. That's one of the regular - and one of the most enjoyable - features of the American jazz magazine DownBeat, in which well-known jazz musicians get to hear a number of jazz songs, without knowing the nature of the recordings or who is playing. So the musicians, interviewed by Dan Ouellette, have to guess which selection they're listening to. They have to know what's what: the title of the song, the band members, the soloists, the period and sundry trivia. The blindfold test is always fun to read, let alone to witness it live, especially when the 'blindfoldees' have to start guessing. Furthermore the songs are selected with the featured guests in mind, an approach that, more often than not, yields heartily told anecdotes!
