For many years he served the Dutch jazz scene as one of the most solid sidemen of the country. Nevertheless the The Hague based drum veteran Eric Ineke strongly wanted a band of his own and founded The Eric Ineke JazzXpress with Sjoerd Dijkhuizen (tenor sax), Rik Mol (trumpet), Rob van Bavel (piano) and Marius Beets (double bass). The CD Flames 'n Fire is filled with timeless pieces showcasing Ineke's love for East Coast Jazz. Ineke's drum career took shape in the sixties in the bands of Ferdinand Povel. After that he was drumming with Rob Agerbeek, Frans Elsen and in the Rein de Graaff/Dick Vennik Quartet. During the eighties he was hired by Piet Noordijk and the Ben van den Dungen/Jarmo Hoogendijk Kwintet. Teamed up with pianist Wolfert Brederode, he was successful with the band Nimbus a few years ago.
