In 1997 the tail-blazing sound-record Khmer on the quality label ECM proved to be the summit of nu-jazz. The Norwegian trumpeter Nils Petter Molvær surprised friend and foe with his dynamic fusion of jazz and electronics. He created a trend with his extremely thrilling concerts. For each song the band members laid out a musical carpet to accommodate the trumpeter. From languid and ambient, to exciting electro-beat with propelling bass lines. Molvær lowered his trumpet, the bell enclosing the microphone, and blew his soft signature lines, which he caused to reverberate with many effects and chased into the remotest corners. The self-willed bass player and producer Bill Laswell is one of Molvær's favorite partners. They already collaborated on the remixes of the album Recoloured - The Remix Album and are thrilled to participate in a beautiful project of sound and improvisation, both Molvær and Laswell bringing in their own aide-de-camps. Guitarist Eivind Aarset often plays with Molvær, and by request of Laswell drummer Hamid Drake and percussionist Ayid Dieng will join the band.
