The inventive, modern jazz of E.S.T, featuring front man and pianist Esbjörn Svensson, bassist Dan Berglund and drummer Magnus Öström, ranks among the best Sweden has to offer. A jazz trio operating as a pop group, with firmly constructed pieces which rock and blast and take ingenious twists. Since the trio's founding in 1993 their popularity hasn't gone unnoticed. The threesome made the cover of America's leading jazz magazine Down Beat, had a clip (!) on MTV Scandinavia and entered the European pop charts. E.S.T., as the Esbjörn Svensson Trio, conquered Europe with the CD From Gagarin's Point of View. After that many strong, adventurous CD's followed, winning several international jazz prizes. The new CD Tuesday Wonderland is specially recommended. Nothing points at the peaceful, spacious desolation that sometimes is reflected in Scandinavian jazz. This is proper, super cool jazz, featuring steaming electronics and exiting piano playing.
