Lately the most exciting forms of music originate from a combination of traditional folk music with different forms of pop, rock and jazz. It's like a laboratory experiment, in which chemical substances are mixed at random: sometimes nothing happens, and sometimes it starts to sizzle, after which the whole thing explodes. The latter applies to Ojos de Brujo ('eyes of the wizard'), a group from Barcelona that puts together flamenco traditions - vocals, dance, guitar, percussion - with DJ's and for example Cuban music. Ojos de Brujo started out as an experiment initiated by guitarist Ramon Giménez eaturing singer Marina Abad and percussionist Xavi Turull. They recorded their thrilling music on the debut album Vengue, a CD they produced and recorded elves, just like the succeeding albums Bari and Techari. Add an inimitable live show to the worked up sounds of Ojos de Brujo and you will experience something you'll never forget.
