The Norwegian musician Kjetil Møster, born in Bergen, learned to play several instruments when he was young until his interest stuck at the bass guitar and the saxophone. While he played bass in different rock bands, he studied saxophone and subsequently he was admitted - for tenor - at the Trondheim Jazz Conservatory. In an early phase John Coltrane and his astonishing way of playing inspired Møster. His music was to be the guideline for the Møster Trio. But the saxophonist also remained interested in rock and more and more he started to combine rock elements with his jazz improvisations. In Oslo he eventually found a musical homeport for his music, he often performs there in bands such as MZN3, The Core and Zanussi Five. At the beginning of this year Kjetil Møster won the IJFO International Jazz Award for New Talent in New York.
