Because of her romantic jazz
Stacey Kent is a remarkable name in the British music scene. The American born singer and radio presenter, who married the British tenor saxophonist Jim Tomlinson, has recorded six CD’s now. She’s won the BBC Jazz Award for ‘best vocalist’ twice. With the sound of her clear and tender voice she’s able to color jazz songs in a dynamic swinging way. Kent also explored the songbook of the American composer Richard Rodgers. On her new album
The Boy Next Door she’s interpreting pop songs in a jazzy way. For that album she selected the ‘classic chic’ repertoire of Burt Bacharach, James Taylor, Paul Simon and Carole King, artists very much admired by Kent.
