“Accordionist Hans Sparla, saxophonist Dick de Graaf and violist Michael Gustorff – featuring Sandra Coelers as a guest - create new living conditions for the endangered music styles jazz and – to a lesser extent – tango. This four-piece trio created a small-scale revolution”, raved the Brabants Nieuwsblad referring to saxophonist Dick de Graaf’s latest project Trio Nuevo. Astor Piazzolla’s tangos and milongas form the starting-point for further development of the crossover between tango and jazz in a contemporary way. The line-up of this trio is extraordinary: tenor sax, violin and accordion. Violist Michael Gustorff and accordionist Hans Sparla have been playing in the Dick de Graaf Septet for years. Guest singer Sandra Coelers gives her interpretations of some songs, with lyrics of the poets Horacio Ferrer and Jorge Luis Borges, especially arranged by De Graaf and Sparla.
