The Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra, a collective of young Rotterdam based talent that was founded in 2004, has a regular weekly gig in the city of the river Maas. Supported by a lot of positive reactions, this formation, that is led by front-men trombonist Louk Boudesteijn and trompeter Rob van de Wouw, have released their first CD Introducing. On their recording we find jazz standards as well as new compositions by musicians like Johan Plomp - who also writes the arrangements for the orchestra - Jesse van Ruller, and Ilja Reijngoud. Besides the RJO the members of the orchestra are active in the Metropole Orkest, New Cool Collective, Nueva Manteca and the Cubop City Big Band. Louk Boudesteijn and Rob van de Wouw have co-led several bands, including the jazz dance formation 2Hip2Bjazz and the Louk Boudesteijn/Rob van de Wouw Quintet.
