Corey, the singer that won the Dutch ‘Grote Prijs R&B/Hiphop Award’ in 2002, recently released her first album Moving On. On that record we find ‘funky street soul’, that is: soulful tracks with explicit lyrics and hip hop, funk, jazz, R&B, gospel, pop and even some Latin influences. Corey, of Jamaican descent, grew up in various countries surrounded by various cultures. When she was about ten, she discovered her voice and she realized that she wanted to become a singer. For years she sang in R&B bands and taught young talent how to sing. Now she’s ready to conquer The Netherlands with her own band. During her performance at the North Sea Jazz Festival she will be accompagnied by the Soulminded Band.
