Tom Beek, born in Sittard and now living in Utrecht, is considered one of the most versatile young saxophone players of today. He enjoys playing complex jazz music, but also pop music and music for cabaret, and he is often to be found in the studio. Beek has studied at the conservatories in The Hague and in Hilversum. At this moment he plays a/o in the Amina Figarova Septet, he plays with singer/comedian Kasper van Kooten, he is a member of the jazz/fusion group the Pitch Pine Project and he performs with DJ Phil Martin & The Jazz Invaders. Since 1998 he also accompanies Karin Bloemen. Beek is often invited as a (guest) soloist with numerous groups and projects, both for live performances as well as for studio recordings. Last year Beek released his own CD
White and Blue. With the title track of the album he was the winner of the Dutch Jazz Competition for ‘best composition’.
