The Danish Radio Big Band, one of the best jazz orchestras in the world, will play a pop influenced concert named after their highly successful CD Trollabundin. Eivor Palsdottir has earned the nickname ‘Björk from the Faroe Islands’ and sings in her native dialect, and those sounds give a special character to the music. The weather at the Faroe Islands is chilly, misty and rainy and the feeling these three adjectives conjure up has been subtly captured in sounds by the arrangers Peter Jensen and Jesper Rüs. And the sound quality of Palsdottir’s voice is perfectly suited to sing about tears, dreams, adultery and happiness. The 20-piece Danish Radio Big Band adds the required jazz feel to this folk tinged pop music, even when the arrangements are symphonic or chamber music-like.
