The Clarkesville Tennessee born
Doug Wamble is a great young vocalist/guitarist whose playing is soaked in rural blues, gospel and swing. Influenced by Charlie Christian he started playing jazz, but at the same time he studied to become a recording engineer. It was only after having seen a performance by the singer-pianist Harry Connick Jr. and guitar player Russell Malone that he decided to become a fulltime musician. At first he only played the guitar, but as he took up the habit of memorizing the lyrics of the pieces he played while driving to gigs, he also became a singer. A meeting with Wynton Marsalis in New York opened up many doors for him. He worked with singers like Cassandra Wilson and Madeleine Peyroux and was allowed to release his debut album
Country Libations on Marsalis Music, Branford Marsalis’ label.
