The Royal Conservatory of The Hague will play the music of Woody Herman, the bandleader that passed away this year. Herman’s big band has obtained a place in jazz history next to the orchestras of Duke Ellington and Count Basie. The American saxophonist Frank Tiberi, who played in the band for years, nowadays leads the Woody Herman Big Band. Especially for the Big Band of The Royal Conservatory he’s made a selection of the Woody Herman Big Band’s rich repertoire, a selection that, of course, won’t lack pieces like Four Brothers and Early Autumn. At the North Sea Jazz Festival The Big Band Koninklijk Conservatorium already collaborated with famous names like Bob Brookmeijer, Maria Schneider, Rob Pronk and Kenny Werner.
