Founded on Liberation Day 1945, the amateur/student combo The Dutch Swing College Band grew into a jazz ensemble that is known around the world and has performed on all five continents for years and years – and with success. In the post-war years the band did some important pioneering and turned youngsters of the time on to the musical genre that came into existence in the North of America: jazz. Over the years the DSCB sound was recorded on practically every type of sound carrier. Many jazz greats have been accompanied by the DSCB including: Sidney Bechet, Joe Venuti, Rita Reys and Teddy Wilson. The 60th Anniversary celebration of the ensemble of bandleader Bob Kaper is coupled with the release of a new CD: The Swing Code.
