The young trumpet player Rik Mol is one of the new names in the Dutch music scene. In a short period he won one prize after another, including The European Trumpet Contest in Berlin and the Prinses Christina Concours. Thanks to his artistic, dedicated and cool approach, in which a great diversity in interests can be heard, he’s successfully crafting his own style and vocabulary. In 2004 Mol put together a group with the famous saxophonist Ben van den Dungen, pianist Rob van Bavel, bassist Jeroen Vierdag and drummer Joost Patocka. It was another step in the difficult process to establish himself as a soloist and composer. In the fall of 2005 Rik’s first CD as a leader will be released. At the same time a self-produced dance CD will be released on the label he set up with Van den Dungen and Patocka.
