Pianist Randal Corsen, who was born on the island of Curaçao, is considered one of the ambassadors of Antillian music. Like no other he is able to incorporate typical rhythms of Curaçao and the other Antillian islands, in his compositions. Corsen studied music at the Brabant Conservatory in Tilburg. He composed and arranged music for singers such as Izaline Calister and Tania Kross, the latin jazz quintet Bye-ya! and percussionists Gerardo Rosales and Martin Verdonk. In 2004 Randal received the Edison Jazz Award for his CD Evolushon. At the moment he’s on a theatre tour through The Netherlands with his duo Calister - Corsen and the group Bye-ya! Soon Randal will release a classical solo CD including compositions by his great-great-grandfather Joseph Sickman Corsen.
