It’s always a party when Denver resident and jazz diva Dianne Reeves comes to sing. Beautifully executed standards paired with fizzy Latin repertoire and poppy/r&b tinged jazz or even gospel. Through the years Reeves has established herself as an all-round talent whose next step will always be unpredictable. She scats like the best and there is no one of her generation who puts, like her predecessors Ella and Billie, so much feeling and depth in her interpretation. In the last few years she has been occupied with a special Sarah Vaughan project, whose work she studied closely and reinterpreted on the CD The Calling. She also released an acoustic CD (A Little Moonlight), a well received Christmas album and she participated in albums of Wynton Marsalis, Tom Harrell, Les McCann and Solomon Burke. She loves to sing with big bands and string orchestras, but she performs just as comfortably in a modest setting, like now with her trio.
