Romane is one of the most talented gypsy guitarists who has entered the music scene in the last decade. He also is indebted to Django Reinhardt, but he does more than just gratuitous imitating. In 1997 the French Académie du Jazz awarded him with the Prix Sidney Bechet for giving an avant-garde twist to gypsy jazz. Our own Stochelo Rosenberg is also such a mega talent. In The Netherlands he became famous at the age of twelve with his performance in the children’s television program ‘Stuif es in’. After that a glorious career followed that brought him via the Django Reinhardt Festival in Samois-sur-Seine to Carnegie Hall.
