Pianist Michel Camilo, who is considered the ambassador of latin jazz, presents at this year’s festival a spectacular solo concert on the occasion of his recently released CD Solo on Telarc. And he will also perform again with the Spanish guitar virtuoso José Fernández Torres ‘Tomatito’. The two musicians met each other four years ago at a Spanish jazz festival. That turned out to be an inspiring encounter, because shortly after that the two started to make music together. The duo Camilo/Tomatito became well-known for their exciting and original playing on the CD Spain. The remarkable combination of Caribbean/latin piano and Spanish guitar has been described as ‘a fresh and sometimes even sensual completion to contemporary jazz’. Mutually invigorated by their shipshape technical qualities, the two musicians perfectly suit each other on a melodic level, which results in high-level compositions.
