Double bassist and composer Avishai Cohen was born in Israel and now lives in New York. His star is rising rapidly in America, especially since his contributions to Danilo Perez' trio and Chick Corea's sextet Origin and The New Trio. That doesn't just happen overnight. But there's more to what makes Cohen such a virtuoso artist. He is driven and musically very flexible (he played on Alicia Keys' album and performed with various big orchestras such as the London Philharmonic). Besides that he writes beautiful music, inspired not only by modern jazz but also by classical music and rock. In his trio as well as in his quartet he proves to be a strong leader, as one can hear on his new, sixth CD in a row, entitled At Home. Nowadays he is also the executive of his own record label Razdaz Recordz that releases his new records.
