The formation WARP (We Are Respectable People) is in fact the follow up of the WARP Music Ensemble that was founded in 2001 by saxophonist and composer Maarten Ornstein. While that was an acoustic wind quintet with which he shaped classical music and jazz in an original way, the new WARP is an eight-piece band with four singers, bass, saxophone, drums and percussion, which produces electronical music. The vocals replace the lacking chord instrument. The music sounds funky and is danceable, with influences from Eastern Europe and North Africa.
