For those who haven’t heard the music of Seu Jorge, they undoubtedly have seen this talented Brazilian in City of God. In this cult movie Jorge plays Knockout Ned, a character who lives in a world that Jorge used to know very well himself. His childhood in the ‘favelas’ of Rio have armed him with perseverance and political commitment, which he has maintained until today. He lived on the streets, figured out how to play the guitar and luckily was picked up by a drama group. His acting talent helped him escape from his past. But he didn’t forget his guitar and the music. His solo album Samba Esporte Fino, that came out in 1999, was instantly elected album of the year in his native country. Last year in France he recorded the CD Cru, an album that proves his talent once again.
