The man who hides behind the alias Moodymann is Kenny Dixon, a producer from techno city Detroit who is averse to publicity. He's sure to guarantee soulful sounding techno and although this seems to be a 'contradictio in terminus', it still is a fact that his view on contemporary techno sounds very fresh. In the early nineties Dixon produced his first songs on his own label KDJ Records, including the Moody Trax EP and singles such as The Day We Lost the Soul and I Can't Kick This Feeling When It Hits, a deep mix between short, soulful disco samples and Detroit techno. Oor Magazine on his latest album: ‘House, disco, gospel, white noise, singing children and other strange sounds contribute to the authentic atmosphere of the third solo album of this Afro-American producer from Detroit. Forevernevermore is a unpolished, warm and very personal record that elaborates on thirty years American club music’.
