Vocalist Dwight Trible may not be well known to the public yet, but in Los Angeles he is a much respected artist. He worked with people like Bobby Hutcherson, Charles Lloyd and Harry Belafonte, he sings with the Pharoah Sanders Quartet and is vocal director of the Horace Tapscott Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra in L.A. Trible, who grew up in Cincinnati, frequently performs and presents avant-garde and lightly spiritual jazz inspired by the sixties. But on his new album Equipoise he made some radical changes. He started collaborating with the special group of producers Sa-Ra Creative Partners and the trip hop label Ninja Tune. Because of that Trible’s sound has changed into 80’s funk with a modern treat, to which Trible sings with his deep voice. The result: Dwight Trible now is warmly embraced by a new hip music scene.
